An Update on the Fairground Park Playground Project
It All Begins Here
We wanted to share where things stand with the city and what's coming next.
We Met With City Staff
Our team recently connected with city staff to follow up on the playground project, and we're glad to share a few concrete next steps came out of that conversation.
Exploring outside funding. The city is helping set up an introductory conversation between FPA and ORSA to explore whether they'd be willing to contribute to a playground and park upgrade. We'll share more as that relationship develops.
Planning a more complete park upgrade. Beyond the play structure itself, we've started talking with the city about a more holistic plan for the park that includes landscaping, hardscaping, layout, grading, and lighting. These are the kinds of site improvements we've flagged as open questions in our own budget planning, so getting the city's engineering and planning expertise involved early is a great sign.
A possible design addition. We're following up with our equipment partner, Miracle Recreation, to see whether a custom element — something distinctive to Fairground Park, in the spirit of other themed community playgrounds — could be incorporated into the design as we approach potential funding partners.
Our Website Is Live
fairgroundpark.org is now live! You can see the full playscape design, renderings, our project budget, and donate directly.
We Need Your Help Spreading the Word
Now that the site is live, our next big push is getting the word out — to neighbors, to local businesses, and to anyone who cares about Fairground Park. A few ways you can help right now:
Share the website with neighbors, on your block's social media groups, or at your next block party
Follow our Facebook group or this blog for updates
Talk to a local business you know that might want to sponsor part of the project
Donate at fairgroundpark.org/donate — every dollar helps us make the case to the city and to future sponsors that this community is behind this project
We'll keep posting updates as the ORSA conversation, the park planning discussion, and the design work move forward. Thank you for being part of this.
